Spring is full bloom! Come play with all the color and vitality of this time of year.
Explore the practice of mordant based natural dyeing with a focus on sustainability and local seasonal color. We will discuss different fibers and pre-dye preparations for them before starting our dye vats with colors coming from local trees and flowers.
Each student will be provided with multiple swatches in different fibers to make samples with, as well as one silk scarf to dye as their final masterpiece.
Learn to give new life to your old clothing and linens! While all materials are provided for this workshop, I encourage each student to bring one additional item from home to work with. Natural dyeing is a great way to refresh old items like a stained shirt.
All plant materials are foraged, grown, or purchased from local Northern California farms.
